Quartz Cuvette


Cuvette are also called absorber or Colorimetric cups, used to hold the solution, the thickness of the walls of each cup and other specifications should be exactly equal as possible, otherwise it will produce measurement errors. Glass Cuvette are only suitable for the visible region, and quartz Cuvette should be used when measuring in the ultraviolet region. 

You can not use your fingers to hold the optical surface of the Cuvette, after use to promptly wash, can be used warm water or dilute hydrochloric acid, ethanol and even chromic acid washing solution (concentrated acid soaking do not exceed 15 minutes), the surface can only be wiped with a soft flannel or wipe the lens paper.

Cuvette are roughly divided into quartz Cuvette, glass Cuvette and plastic Cuvette according to the material. Depending on the measurement volume, there are Cuvette and capillary Cuvette, etc. For general testing of nucleic acids and UV quantitative proteins, quartz or glass Cuvette are used, but they are not suitable for colorimetric determination. Because the dyes in the reaction (e.g., Komas Brilliant) can color quartz and glass, disposable plastic Cuvette should be used. And plastic Cuvette are generally not suitable for testing samples in the UV range.
